Northamptonshire Chief Constable Suspended Over Conduct Probe
Northamptonshire Police Chief Constable Nick Adderley has been suspended while an independent investigation into his conduct gets underway, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Stephen Mold has confirmed.
Complaint Linked to Military Service
The suspension follows a public complaint focused on Adderley’s military background. The Office of the Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner received the complaint and promptly referred it to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for a formal investigation.
IOPC Launches Formal Investigation
The IOPC is now probing the allegations. After taking independent legal advice, Stephen Mold decided that suspending Adderley was the right move—for the public’s confidence, the police force’s reputation, and the Chief Constable himself.
Mold: Transparency and Integrity Are Key
“Allegations of misconduct must always be fully, independently investigated so that the public have confidence in the integrity of the police service and the processes that independently hold policing to account,” said Mold.
The suspension will be reviewed regularly as the inquiry unfolds. Meanwhile, Mold has stressed no further comments will be made until the investigation concludes.
