Five Arrested in Major Anti-Terror Raids Across UK
Counter Terrorism officers from the North East swooped this morning (May 1) to arrest five suspects linked to terrorism offences. The arrests took place across West Yorkshire, Wiltshire, and North Wales.
Suspects Held Over Terror Plot
- A 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Keighley.
- A 30-year-old man was also detained in Keighley.
- A 28-year-old woman was picked up from the same Keighley location.
- A 16-year-old boy was arrested in Swindon.
- A 28-year-old man was arrested in Anglesey.
All are suspected of involvement in the commission, preparation, or instigation of terrorist acts under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000. They have been taken to a West Yorkshire police station for questioning.
Homes Searched as Probe Targets Right-Wing Terrorism
Several properties linked to the suspects are currently being searched as part of a wide-reaching investigation led by Counter Terrorism Policing North East. Authorities confirm this operation targets right-wing terrorism.
Police Assure Public: No Immediate Danger
“We recognise that local people may have concerns as a result of this activity. We would like to reassure them that these arrests are pre-planned and intelligence led and there is not believed to be any immediate risk to the local community,” police said.
Officers thanked residents for their patience and support while enquiries continue into this serious matter.
