Knife Fight on Wandsworth Road Ends in Tragedy
Police were scrambled at 4:05am on Sunday, 29 September, following reports of a large group involved in a knife fight on Wandsworth Road, SW8.
Officers, London Ambulance Service, and London’s Air Ambulance rushed to the scene. Three men were found with stab wounds.
One Dead, Two Injured in Early Morning Attack
Despite the best efforts of emergency crews, a 24-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support. Formal identification is pending, and a post-mortem will be conducted in due course.
Two other men in their 20s were taken to hospital. One suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the third remains in serious condition.
Massive Police Hunt Underway
The Specialist Crime Command is leading the investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Payne said: “One man has lost his life and two others have been treated in hospital for their injuries.
My team is working round the clock to uncover what happened. We are appealing to anyone who was near Wandsworth Road in the early hours on Sunday to come forward. You may hold vital clues to help identify those responsible.
Please check dash cams or CCTV footage — you might have captured the attack or suspects fleeing.”
Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh added: “Our thoughts are with the family of the young man who has tragically lost his life.
We are working closely with partners to ensure swift arrests.
The local community will understandably be shocked. Expect to see more officers in the area. If you have any concerns or information, please speak to them.”
