Extinction Rebellion Storm Barclays in Brighton – Four Arrested
This afternoon (14th November), Extinction Rebellion protesters caused chaos outside Barclays bank on North Street, Brighton. Several activists “locked on” to the premises in a dramatic showdown as part of a nationwide day of action. Similar protests hit Birmingham, Aberdeen, and other UK cities targeting major high street banks.
Four Arrested in Sussex Police Crackdown
Sussex Police were quick to respond, arriving at around 1.15pm to manage the situation. Officers worked with the bank and protesters to keep the peace and reduce disruption to the public. Despite attempts to keep things calm, four activists were arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass and taken into custody.

Nationwide Day of Climate Action
The Brighton protest formed part of a wider UK campaign by Extinction Rebellion aimed at shaking up big banks over environmental concerns. Activists targeted high street giants for their role in funding fossil fuels, promising more disruptions across the country.
