90-Year-Old Woman Dies After Wootton BMW Crash
Tragedy struck Wootton on the Isle of Wight as Jacqueline Valvona, 90, lost her battle following a collision with a BMW on August 2. The beloved grandmother passed away yesterday afternoon at Southampton General Hospital.
Beloved Local Woman Passes Days After Crash
Jacqueline, from Homebray House in Wootton, was hit by a BMW X3 on Kite Hill just before 4.30pm. The 75-year-old driver escaped without injuries. Family members described her as “vivacious, charismatic, generous and fiercely independent.”
“Born very premature in Paris in 1928 and not expected to survive, she reached 90 years, 65 of which were spent on the Island. She was unique,” the family said.
“We thank all emergency services for their support, especially the staff at Southampton General Hospital who cared so wonderfully for mum and us.”
Police Seek Witnesses as Investigation Continues
Officers are still digging into the events that led to the collision. They urge anyone who saw what happened to come forward.
