Man in Custody After Woman’s Body Found in Watlington Hill Woods

A shocking discovery has left police hunting for answers after the body of a woman in her sixties was found in woodland at Watlington Hill National Trust park.

At around 5.53pm on Friday (23/10), emergency services discovered the woman’s body in the Christmas Common area. Her next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers. Formal identification and a post-mortem examination have yet to be completed.

23-Year-Old Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder

Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit swiftly launched a murder investigation. Officers arrested a 23-year-old man connected to the case. He was found naked and bleeding nearby and is currently being treated in hospital. His condition is serious but stable.

Police Appeal for Information

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Craig Kirby said: “We believe this was not a random attack and that the victim and the attacker were known to each other. We are in the very early stages of our enquiries and understand the community’s concerns.”

“The arrested man remains in police custody while receiving treatment. We urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward.”
