Man in Family Walk Assaulted by Off-Road Drivers in Wiltshire
Sunday afternoon stroll turns nasty as a man in his 50s is attacked by a gang of off-road drivers. The victim, out walking with his family at around 3.30pm on 24 January, was both verbally and physically assaulted after a confrontation with the group.
He was thrown down a steep bank and forced into a puddle, while his family faced verbal abuse from the thugs. Thankfully, he escaped without serious injuries.
Where Did the Attack Happen?
The incident took place at the top of the byway running from Avebury Trusloe to the woods near Windmill Hill, a remote spot in rural Wiltshire.
Suspect and Vehicles Described
- Main suspect: white male, mid-late 20s, 5ft 10in, heavy build, light brown hair, goatee beard and moustache.
- Believed to have been driving a Land Rover with customised wheels.
- Other off-road vehicles involved, some unregistered.
- One number plate may have included “141” and “1 BRM”.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
PC Angela Holden said: “Despite the remote location we are asking if anyone out for a walk or run in this part of rural Wiltshire heard or saw anything suspicious during this afternoon. Perhaps you saw a convoy of off-road vehicles in the area or recognise the descriptions given.”
