Prison Officer Murdered Outside Ventnor Pub on Christmas Night
Detectives are hunting witnesses after a serving prison officer was tragically killed outside the Rose Inn in Ventnor just after midnight on Christmas Day.
57-Year-Old Prison Officer Found Dead at Scene
The victim, a 57-year-old man who worked at HMP Isle of Wight Estate, was found fatally assaulted on Pier Street. Police were called to the scene but he was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
Three Arrests Made in Murder Probe
- A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
- A 31-year-old and a 32-year-old have also been arrested and are in police custody as the investigation continues.
Police Appeal for Christmas Night Witnesses
“We would like to speak to anyone who was in or near the Rose Inn on Christmas night around the time of the incident, especially if you haven’t yet come forward,” said Detective Chief Inspector Dave Brown. “Your information could be vital.”
