Massive Blaze Hits Rainham Industrial Estate
Firefighters are battling a huge fire at an industrial estate off Ferry Lane in Rainham, Havering. Around 80 firefighters have been scrambled to the scene, tackling a massive blaze that’s lighting up the night sky.
Metal and Plastic Stockpile Ablaze
Station Manager Keith Carmichael, who’s on site, said: “A large pile of metal and plastic is alight. Thankfully, the fire is outside the industrial units, not inside, and we’re working hard to stop it spreading.”
Thick Smoke But No Threat to Homes
The fire has unleashed thick smoke, but with a still night, the plume isn’t drifting. Luckily, the industrial estate is away from any residential areas, meaning local homes aren’t at risk.
Fire Engines From All Around Pitch In
Twelve fire engines from nearby stations including Wennington, Barking, and Hornchurch are on the front line. Fire chiefs warn they expect to be on the scene for some time yet.
