PC Cleared of Dodgy Timesheet Claims
PC Abigail Palmer was accused of faking her working hours, claiming to have worked from home but allegedly doing no actual work. The serious allegations threatened to tarnish her career.
Independent Panel Dismisses Dishonesty Charge
The case was heard by an Independent Legally Qualified Chair, Stephen Gowland, at chelmsford/" title="Chelmsford" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Chelmsford Civic Centre. The hearing ran from Wednesday 8 February and wrapped up on Monday 13 February.
After reviewing the evidence, the panel ruled the claim “not proven.” No further action will be taken against PC Palmer.
Top Brass Back Fair Investigation
Assistant Chief Constable Rachel Nolan stressed Essex Police’s commitment to high professional standards. She said:
“Essex Police expects the highest professional standards from its officers and staff and where an individual is accused of falling below those standards it is only right that matters are considered by an independent panel.”
“This was a serious accusation and was rightly investigated and put before a panel. Evidence was presented to the panel and they found the allegations were not proven on the balance of probabilities.”
“We continue to support colleagues throughout any investigation and will ensure PC Palmer continues to receive that support at the conclusion of this process.”
