Peterborough Stabbing: Drug Dealer Kills Man in Early Hours Brawl
Julian Davies, 19, was at a house in Brudenell, Peterborough, just before 4am on 19 February. He had walked there to supply crack cocaine to the residents. But what started as a drug deal quickly turned deadly.
Row Erupts and Stabbing Ensues
More people arrived at the address, and Davies went into the kitchen with 39-year-old Jason Cremin. Suddenly, a heated argument broke out. Witnesses said Davies was struck with a weapon first, but then he pulled a knife.
Davies lunged at Cremin, stabbing him at least three times. After the attack, Davies fled the house and was chased down the street by another man.
Victim Collapses and Dies at Hospital
Cremin, from Naseby Close, Ravensthorpe, managed to tell a friend: “He’s got me bad, he’s stabbed me.” Friends tried to get him into a car to rush him to hospital, but he collapsed outside. Paramedics arrived quickly, but Cremin died less than two hours later at 5.52am.
A post-mortem revealed Cremin died from a stab wound to the back, with two more wounds to his arm and back.
Family Mourns Lost Loved One
“Jason was a family man and very well loved among friends,” his family said. “He was an only child and leaves behind his parents, partner, and five children.”
Davies, from Meriton, Orton Goldhay, was arrested and charged with murder.
Trial Claims: Self-Defence or Set-Up?
At Peterborough Crown Court from 29 November, Davies claimed he acted in self-defence. He said Cremin attacked him first with an axe. He insisted he didn’t want to kill him and felt “a bit of a set up.”
