Police arrested Malik shortly after on Burmarsh Road. On 4 October 2022, he was found guilty of attempted murder at Canterbury Crown Court.
On 20 December, Malik was sentenced to 28 years behind bars, plus a further two years on licence.
Detective Praises Quick Police Action
“This was an extremely disturbing incident and it is only thanks to the response of medics that we are not dealing with an even more serious case,” said Detective Constable Max Pegler.
“I hope Malik’s quick arrest by officers on the day, the conviction secured, and the lengthy sentence now imposed provides reassurance to the victim and the wider community.”
