Tragedy struck Mitcham at the crack of dawn as a man was found injured in a possible shooting.

Man Found Shot in Croydon Road

Police were alerted at around 2.25am on Tuesday, 4 April after reports of a man injured near the junction of Croydon Road and Beddington Lane.

Officers and paramedics rushed to the scene where they found a man believed to be in his 20s. He was rushed to hospital but sadly died shortly after arrival despite emergency efforts.

Gunshot Wound Suspected, Crime Scene Active

Early investigations suggest the man suffered a gunshot injury. Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command have launched a murder inquiry. A crime scene remains in place as investigators continue to piece together what happened.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dash Cam Footage

Detectives are urging anyone who was near Croydon Road and Beddington Lane that night to come forward with any information. They are particularly keen to hear from road users with dash cam footage that could shed light on the incident.
