Elderly Man Robbed After ATM Withdrawal in Bilborough
John Ward, 41, struck a 78-year-old man in Bilborough’s Bracebridge Drive just after the victim withdrew a large sum from a cash machine on the morning of May 31, 2022.
Ward nonchalantly got out of a car, marched up, and snatched the man’s wallet straight from his hands before speeding off in the same vehicle.
Quick Police Action Leads to Arrest
Officers acted fast, tracing the getaway 123 sentenced him to two years and 11 months behind bars.
“This was a wicked and cowardly attack on an elderly victim,” said Detective Constable Dionne Love of Nottinghamshire Police.
“Ward saw an easy target and pounced without any regard for the victim’s welfare. The incident deeply affected a man already battling serious health issues.”
“Thanks to a quick-thinking member of the public who memorised the car’s number plate, we swiftly identified the suspect vehicle and caught Ward red-handed with the stolen wallet.”
