Stalker Caught After Chasing Victim Across Kent

Moyazzam Hossain was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on Friday, 25 November 2022, after admitting stalking. The High Wycombe man terrorised a woman so much she fled her home — only for him to track her down multiple times.

Victim Forced to Flee Multiple Shelters

In January 2022, Kent Police were alerted by a women’s refuge in Dover. Staff raised the alarm after suspecting Hossain was hunting for a woman staying there. Investigations by the East Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team revealed the victim had already fled another part of the country to escape him.

She first moved to a shelter far away, but Hossain found her and confronted her on the street. Even after relocating to Margate and then Dover, she spotted his vehicle nearby – leaving her living in constant fear.

Police Nab Hossain in Dover

Kent Police took swift action when Hossain was spotted in Dover. He was arrested the same day. An indefinite restraining order has now been slapped on him, keeping the victim protected after his release.

“Protecting women and girls from violence, stalking and similar offences is an absolute priority for Kent Police,” said Detective Sergeant Alper Ay.

“This experience must have been terrifying for the victim and I hope the fact that this offender is now behind bars gives her some sense of security.”

“I urge anyone being stalked or mistreated by someone they know to contact police as soon as possible. We can take immediate action to keep you safe.”
