Police swooped on a suspicious car in Bulwell High Road just before 8.45pm on Sunday (26 February).
Officers quickly followed and pulled the vehicle over, sparking a major bust.
Multiple Phones Ringing Sparks Suspicion
Officers were alerted by the sound of several phones continuously ringing inside the car. Acting on sharp intelligence, they searched the vehicle.
The search uncovered a hefty stash of cash hidden in a bag – and a baseball bat.
Class A Drugs and Assault in Custody
When the suspect was taken into custody, officers found a bag of suspected Class A drugs on him. One officer was even bitten while trying to carry out the search.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs, assaulting an emergency worker, and carrying an offensive weapon in public. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
Police Praise Quick Thinking
“Acting on intelligence and realising not everything was as it seemed with multiple phones ringing at once, it was thanks to our officers acting on their suspicions that an arrest was made,” said PC Alyse Jones from Nottinghamshire Police.
“Thankfully the custody officer did not receive any serious injuries, but this sort of behaviour will never be tolerated by us as a force.
“We regularly stop vehicles that peak our suspicions and, on this occasion, it didn’t take long for us to find exactly what we were looking for.”
