Teen Killer Sentenced to Life for Brutal Stabbing of 14-Year-Old
Marques Walker, just 17 from Bromley, Kent, has been locked up for life at the Old Bailey today. The teenager, who was 16 when he stabbed young Jermaine Cools to death, must serve a minimum of 19 years behind bars.
Chilling CCTV Captures Fatal Knife Attack
Walker had already admitted the charge. CCTV showed him calmly approaching a street brawl where Jermaine, only 14, was caught up in a fight with other youths. Without hesitation, Walker pulled out a large knife and charged at Jermaine, who tried desperately to defend himself on the ground.
Walker repeatedly lunged the blade into Jermaine, leaving the terrified boy with multiple stab wounds. Manhunt Ends with Dramatic Arrest
Police launched a murder probe immediately. Walker vanished after the attack, sparking a six-week fugitive hunt. Officers finally caught him hiding behind a bed at a different address on December 27, 2021. Initially giving a false name, he was hauled in for questioning and charged with Jermaine’s murder. He refused to say a word during the interrogation.
Family Grief: ‘Our Lives Went Dark the Day Jermaine Died’
“Jermaine could talk to anybody. He was our best friend and the one who always made our day, even when we were down,” the family said. “Since that horrible night on November 18, 2021, our home went from laughter and happiness to just pain and silence.”
Violent Behaviour Continues Behind Bars
Walker’s violent streak didn’t stop. During a prison exercise period, he and three others brutally attacked a fellow inmate. They kicked and stamped on him, leaving the victim unconscious and needing emergency brain surgery. Witnesses heard Walker shout, “finish him off” before officers intervened, and he later bragged, “that’s how you beat someone up.”
