Man Charged After Serious Hit-and-Run in Bemerton Heath
Pedestrian Left Fighting for Life
A shocking hit-and-run rocked Pinewood Close, Bemerton Heath on Saturday evening (10 May 2025). A man in his 40s was struck by a vehicle around 5.45pm, suffering serious leg injuries. Emergency crews rushed to the scene as the injured pedestrian was rushed to hospital.
Suspect in Custody – Dangerous Driving Charges
Police have arrested 33-year-old Ashley Sherred of Southampton Road, Salisbury. He now faces charges including Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving. The offending vehicle was a blue 09-plate Ford Fiesta, which initially fled but was later traced thanks to public tip-offs.
Next Stop: Salisbury Magistrates’ Court
Sherred is remanded in custody and set to face Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 12 May. Wiltshire Police praised the public for their role in locating the car. A spokesperson said,
“Thank you to everyone who called in with potential sightings. Your support was vital in helping us trace the vehicle.”
