A 20-year-old from Barking has landed behind bars after a terrifying motorway crash in Milton Keynes. Omar Makhluf pleaded guilty to dangerous and drug-impaired driving following a harrowing smash on the M1 northbound near Newport Pagnell.
Mercedes Wheel Flies Off After Crashing Into Central Reservation
The nightmare unfolded around 3.30pm on 16 February 2025. Makhluf lost control of his Mercedes, slamming into the central reservation and ripping a wheel clean off down to the rim. But instead of stopping, he recklessly carried on driving for miles with a blown-out tyre—putting lives at serious risk.
Nearly Two Years in Jail and Four-Year Driving Ban
Miraculously, no one was injured in the smash. Police arrested Makhluf the same day, and six months later he faced court. On 6 March 2026, Aylesbury Crown Court sentenced him to 22 months in prison. He also received a driving ban of nearly five years for this and other offences.
Police Urge Drivers: Stop Safely If Your Car Is Damaged
Officers warn all motorists to pull over safely and contact police immediately if your vehicle sustains damage on a motorway. Makhluf’s reckless decision to keep driving with a blown tyre shows just how dangerous ignoring this life-saving rule can be.
