Security Guard on Trial for Alleged Halloween Rape

A Dartford security guard faces charges after a 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped in his car following her refusal at a central London nightclub on Halloween night.

Details of the Alleged Assault

Morenikeji Adewole, a security guard at Heaven nightclub in Charing Cross, is accused of sexually assaulting the woman just after midnight on 1 November 2024, Southwark Crown Court heard. Adewole denies the rape charges.

What Happened That Night?

Prosecutor Marion Smullen told the court the victim queued for two hours with friends to get into the Halloween event but was refused entry. CCTV footage showed Adewole, identifiable by his hi-vis jacket, escorting the intoxicated woman away from the club.

Further CCTV captured the pair in a tunnel behind York Buildings, with the woman struggling to stand. Adewole was seen returning with his Lexus, into which the woman then entered.

The car drove to Adelphi Terrace, where the alleged rape took place. The victim told police she passed out in the back before waking up as the assault began.

“I remember now being more conscious and the security guard was attempting to insert his male genitalia into my female genitalia,” she told the court.

She said she had been “saving herself for marriage” and described feeling “disgusted” and “violated.”

Defence Claims Consensual Encounter

Defence barrister Stephan Alfred argued the encounter was consensual, claiming the woman agreed to sex in exchange for entry. The woman denied this, insisting she had never met Adewole prior to that night and rejected claims of any “flirty banter.”

Alfred also suggested the woman told friends she “let him have sex” to get into the club—claims she completely denies.

Victim’s Emotional Testimony

“I felt disgusting, I felt violated, I felt so f***** off. I was so, so upset. I was bawling my eyes out,” she told the jury.

She admitted to limited memory of getting into the car or the fall caught on CCTV afterwards. Police interviews revealed her intoxicated state made resisting the assault difficult.

Arrest and Court Proceedings

Adewole was arrested at Heaven nightclub on 11 November 2024 after police tracked him via his car registration. He was found with the Lexus keys and mostly remained silent during questioning.

The nightclub has been approached for comment. The trial at Southwark Crown Court is ongoing.
