Man Held Over Kidnap and Murder of Koray Alpergin
A 33-year-old man remains in custody in south London after being arrested on suspicion of kidnap and murder.
Body of Koray Alpergin Found Near Loughton
Officers from Essex Police discovered the body of 43-year-old Koray Alpergin at around 11:55am on Saturday, 15 October, near Oakwood Hill Industrial Estate in Loughton. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Met Police Take Over Investigation
After several enquiries, the Metropolitan Police took charge of the investigation. Officers had been searching for Koray and a 33-year-old woman prior to the body being found. The woman, who was known to Koray, was found safe and unharmed.
Police received a report on Friday, 14 October, at 1:51pm that the pair had gone missing from an address in Ebony Crescent, Enfield, and had not been seen since the previous night.
Multiple Arrests and Court Dates Set
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command continue to support Mr Alpergin’s family. Several suspects have already been charged with murder and kidnap:
- Erdogan Ulcay, 55, Oakeshott Avenue, Camden
- Ali Kavak, 25, De Quincey Road, Tottenham
- A 17-year-old boy
- Junior Kettle, 31, Kingsdown Road, Islington
They are due to appear at the Old Bailey on 6 January 2023.
Other Arrests Made
Two men aged 29 and 34 have also been arrested on suspicion of murder but have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
A 55-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released without further action.
