Reckless driving puts lives at risk
Kevin Hiscock, 40, from Sidcup, has been handed a community order including 150 hours of unpaid work after a shocking display of reckless driving. Despite already being banned from driving, Hiscock jumped behind the wheel under the influence of drugs, pulling into oncoming traffic and running a red light on Beckenham Hill Road, Bellingham.
Dangerous moves caught on the road
The incident unfolded on November 19, 2022. Hiscock, driving a SEAT Tarraco, overtook three stationary vehicles in oncoming lanes before tearing through a red light. His actions not only risked his own life but also innocent road users.
Drugs, no insurance, and a driving ban ignored
Police discovered cocaine in Hiscock’s vehicle and confirmed he was unfit to drive due to drug impairment. On top of that, he was uninsured and disqualified from holding or applying for a driving licence. At Bexley Magistrates’ Court on July 12, he pleaded guilty to multiple offences including drug possession, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
Strict sentence delivers a clear warning
Hiscock has been slapped with a 18-month driving ban and must complete 150 hours of unpaid work. Authorities emphasise drug-impaired driving is a serious danger and vow to enforce tough penalties to keep communities safe.
“This case serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences faced by those who drive dangerously while under the influence of drugs,” officials said.
