Driver Rams Police Cars in Hastings Road, Flimwell – Busted with Drugs and Weapons
Range Rover targets police vehicles
On Wednesday 8 December 2021, chaos erupted in a car park on Hastings Road, Flimwell, when a Range Rover deliberately rammed three police cars. Officers had been called to investigate suspicious activity before the shocking collisions unfolded.
Drug haul and weapons recovered
The rampage ended after multiple crashes forced the Range Rover to stop, allowing police to arrest the driver. A joint search by Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge community officers uncovered cannabis, catapults, ball bearings, and a knife inside the vehicle.
More drugs and cash seized in raid
A subsequent warrant at a nearby home revealed £1,620 in cash and several bags of suspected cocaine. Kai Austen, 18, from Summervale Road, Tunbridge Wells, was arrested and slapped with a string of serious charges.

- Four counts of criminal damage
- Three counts of assaulting emergency workers
Court appearances and next steps
Austen appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 9 December and was remanded in custody. His next hearing is scheduled for 6 January 2022 at Lewes Crown Court.
