Brazen Crimes Across North London

The gang struck mainly in Finchley, Barnet, and Hampstead. They were known to use machetes to threaten victims. One chilling attack saw a man forced to hand over his Rolex after being chased and threatened with a machete. Another saw elderly victim, aged 80, pushed to the floor during a violent home invasion.

During one shocking break-in, the gang held a crowbar over a man’s head and threatened his wife to open a safe. They escaped with £93,000 worth of jewellery and £6,000 in cash.

Caught on Camera and Cornered by Flying Squad

The Met’s Flying Squad kept the gang under close watch, following them during a 2020 burglary where they fled empty-handed. The suspects then tried to smash the window of a car—only it was an unmarked police vehicle. Police swooped in with help from a helicopter.

The gang abandoned their stolen Audi and tried to escape on foot and bikes but were quickly arrested. Officers found machetes and zombie knives in a nearby flat.

Detective Sergeant Gary Taylor, Flying Squad: “This gang’s violent attacks and threats with weapons were shocking. They wrongly thought they wouldn’t get caught, but we closed the net with a top-notch surveillance operation. Victims’ bravery helped bring these criminals to justice.”

Additional Charges for Attempted Robbery of Arsenal Stars

Jordan Northover picked up extra time after trying to rob two Arsenal players in July 2019. CCTV showed the suspects pull up on a motorbike and threaten the victim with a sharp object. The pair fought back and escaped unharmed.

Another Man Gets 10 Years for Attempted Robbery

Ashley Smith, 31, pleaded guilty to a separate attempted robbery involving drug possession. He was jailed for 10 years at Harrow Crown Court in November 2020.

This gang’s violent rampage has finally ended behind bars. London’s streets are safer thanks to swift police action and brave victims who stood up to fearsome criminals.
