London Man Busted in Canterbury Drug Sting

A 23-year-old Londoner was hauled before court this weekend, facing serious Class A drug charges in Canterbury.

Arrest on Plumstead High Street

Amir Maroufkel, from Old Kent Road, was arrested by Kent Police on Plumstead High Street on Thursday, January 17, 2019. He’s been hit with two major charges—conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine across Canterbury.

Serious Charges and Court Dates

The offences allegedly took place between October 23 and November 14, 2018. Maroufkel appeared at Canterbury Magistrates’ Court on January 19 and was remanded in custody. He’s set to reappear at Canterbury Crown Court on February 15, 2019.

Operation Raptor Cracks Down

The arrest followed Operation Raptor, a crack squad effort targeting violent crime, offensive weapons, and the supply of Class A drugs in the region. Officers say the initiative is making headway in cleaning up the streets.
