Plumstead Man Charged Over Child Sexual Communication
Ian James Brooker Arrested
Ian James Brooker, 45, from Balgowan Street, Plumstead, was arrested on December 21 by the Metropolitan Police. The arrest came after a tip-off from a third party, with officers detaining him around 1pm that day.
Guilty Plea at Bexley Magistrates’ Court
Brooker was charged with engaging in sexual communication with a child. He appeared at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on December 23, where he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Bail Granted, Sentencing Set for February
The 45-year-old has been granted bail and is due to be sentenced at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on February 4, 2025.
Met Police Urge Public to Stay Vigilant
“A man was arrested at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 21, in Plumstead on suspicion of engaging in sexual communication with a child. The arrest followed a report from a third party,” said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
“Ian James Brooker, 45, of Balgowan Street, Plumstead, has since been charged. He pleaded guilty at Bexley Magistrates’ Court and was bailed ahead of his next appearance at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on February 4.”
The police continue to encourage anyone with concerns or information about suspicious behaviour to report it immediately to help protect vulnerable individuals.
