A 20-year-old man has been charged after a string of high-value laptop thefts at Bluewater Shopping Centre. Benedict Ashi-Buogwu of Cavendish Road, Rochester, was arrested on January 24 following a swift police operation teamed up with the centre’s security staff.
Laptop Stolen from Apple Store Recovered
Ashi-Buogwu was caught shortly after a theft at the Apple store inside Bluewater. The stolen laptop, part of haul valued at over £15,000, was recovered during the arrest. He now faces charges linked to this incident and a similar one at the same store on January 9.
Additional Theft Charges from London Shops
Beyond Bluewater, Ashi-Buogwu is accused of four further thefts from London stores, dated December 20, 2023, to January 21, 2024. The spree has raised serious concerns about retail security across the capital.
