A man has died following a brutal fight in Forest Gate, prompting a major police probe.

Deadly Street Brawl on Palmerston Road

Police were called at 3:52pm on Tuesday, 25 November after reports of a violent clash on Palmerston Road. Officers and paramedics found a man in his 50s unconscious at the scene. The victim, 56-year-old Franklin Francis from Newham, was rushed to hospital but tragically died two days later on Thursday, 27 November.

Two Men Arrested Over Fatal Attack

Two suspects, aged 56 and 24, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Both remain on conditional bail as detectives dig deeper into what sparked the deadly altercation.

Superintendent Sarah Jackson said: “We are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts are with Franklin’s family and friends. We are doing everything we can to find who is responsible and have made two arrests as part of our investigation.

“I’d also like to thank the members of the public who helped the victim until officers and paramedics arrived at the scene.

“We understand this will cause concern locally but want to reassure residents this was an isolated event.”
