Early Morning Crash Closes A64 Near York

Tragedy struck the A64 near York at 2:50am on Monday when Scott Proudlock’s white Ford Transit Connect ploughed into a parked Volvo lorry near York Racecourse.

Proudlock, 43, from near Malton, was pronounced dead at the scene. The HGV driver escaped unscathed and is helping police with their investigation.

Pending Child Abuse Trial Cut Short

Proudlock was due to face York Crown Court today, charged with three counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching and making indecent images.

With his death confirmed, the trial has been adjourned until December 5 for the court to officially record his passing.

Massive Traffic Chaos as A64 Shut for Hours

  • Westbound lanes reopened at 7:15am.
  • Eastbound lanes remained shut until 11:15am after thorough collision investigations.

The crash caused major delays and gridlock as emergency services cleared the scene. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and follow diversion signs.
