A 40-year-old man has confessed to murdering 23-year-old Stephanie Irons at her Nottingham home.

Fatal Attack Shakes Mapperley

Adedapo Adegbola brutally attacked Stephanie Irons at her Westdale Lane property in West Mapperley on the evening of 21 October 2025. Police rushed to the scene after alarmed colleagues reported disturbing messages sent by Stephanie that night. Officers found her gravely injured in the living room just after 10pm. She tragically died shortly afterwards.

Brief Romance Ends in Horror

Detectives revealed Stephanie and Adegbola were former colleagues who had recently split from a short-lived relationship. After the savage attack, Adegbola fled, leaving behind blood-stained trainers and a jumper scattered around Mapperley and nearby Carlton. His chilling escape took him through Mansfield, Worksop, Sheffield, and Hull before he returned to Nottingham the next day.

Adegbola Pleads Guilty, Sentence Looms

On 22 October, Mr Adegbola surrendered himself at Oxclose police station and was swiftly charged with murder. He entered a guilty plea at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday. His sentencing is scheduled for February.
