Man Held Over Attempted Murder of Young Woman in Crawley
A 27-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being charged with the attempted murder of a 23-year-old woman in Crawley. The shocking incident unfolded on Tuesday, June 25, sparking a rapid police response following reports of a disturbance at a local residence.
Victim Treated and Released
The injured woman sought treatment at East Surrey Hospital and has since been discharged. Meanwhile, Sussex Police acted quickly to arrest Alex Powell, who has no fixed address, on suspicion of attempted murder on the same day.
Serious Charges Laid
Following an investigation by Crawley’s Safeguarding Investigation Unit, Powell faces multiple charges, including:
- Attempted murder
- Intentional suffocation
- Assault on an emergency worker
Powell appeared before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 27. He was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Lewes Crown Court scheduled for July 25.
