Man Throws Bleach Over 15-Year-Old After Snapchat Threats

A shocking bleach attack in Bilborough has left a 15-year-old schoolgirl terrified and traumatized. Regan Smith, 18, doused the teen with bleach in a vile assault on April 15, 2022. Nottingham Crown Court heard Smith sent threatening Snapchat messages before carrying out the attack.

Bleach Attack Sparks Outrage – Motive Revealed

The ugly truth emerged during the trial. The victim tried to stop Smith from harassing a girl he fancied. Enraged, Smith targeted the teen. The bleach mostly soaked her t-shirt but also splashed onto her face, causing hours of burning pain.

Man Threatens Further Violence, Arrested at Local Pub

After throwing bleach, Smith threatened the girl if she didn’t move. Shaken, she fled to a relative’s home, and her mother alerted police. Officers caught Smith later that evening at a pub. Prosecutor Steven Taylor revealed Smith had brought diluted bleach in a small bottle specifically for the attack.

Judge Slams Bleach Assaulter: “Could Have Caused Blindness”

Smith also sent abusive messages to the victim’s friends, chasing them along Westleigh Road before attacking. The bleach sprayed dangerously close to the victim’s eye. Judge Michael Auty KC warned Smith’s actions could have caused permanent injury or blindness.

Smith pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon. He was sentenced to 16 months in a young offender institution, suspended for two years, plus 150 hours unpaid work and 10 rehab days. The judge warned: any further trouble, and Smith will face jail.

“Imagine if it was your loved one,” Judge Auty told Smith, stressing the need for empathy.

Inspector David Platt, leading the probe, revealed the victim continues to suffer anxiety, fearful it could have been an acid attack. This attack has left a young girl scarred and a community shaken.
