Man Pleads Guilty to Brutal Murder of Girlfriend in Beckenham

A 54-year-old man has admitted murdering his girlfriend, who was found with fatal head injuries in a flat in Beckenham last July.

Fatal Attack in Oakwood Avenue Flat

David McCorkell, who has no fixed address, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on Monday, 18 November to the murder of 61-year-old Diane Dyer on 18 July.

Emergency services were called at 11.08pm after concerns for Diane. Police and paramedics arrived at her Oakwood Avenue home to find her unresponsive with serious head injuries. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Cause of Death: Blunt Force Trauma

The post-mortem revealed Diane died from blunt force trauma to the head and face. McCorkell, who had only been in a relationship with Diane for two months, was arrested five days later on 23 July and charged with murder.

Sentencing Set For December

McCorkell is due to be sentenced at the Old Bailey on 18 December.
