Two Thugs Locked Up Over Brutal Baseball Bat Bashing in Rochester
Two violent offenders have been slammed behind bars following a savage baseball bat attack on the streets of Rochester.
Unprovoked Nightclub Assault Turns Ugly
Aiman Aziz, 18, and Ayoub Omer, 20, launched a vicious attack on three men after being thrown out of a nightclub near Blue Boar Lane. Aziz sparked trouble inside by headbutting a man, prompting security to eject the pair in the early hours of 22 January 2023.
But instead of heading home, Aziz and Omer lay in wait for their victim to leave, then unleashed a brutal assault. Aziz smashed another headbutt in before both men took turns battering the victims with a baseball bat. Aziz hit one victim so hard the bat snapped in half.
Serious Injuries and Swift Justice
- All three victims suffered nasty facial and head injuries
- One man sustained a fractured skull and brain bleed
- Officers tracked down Aziz and Omer at their Chatham home
The pair were arrested and charged with wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon. Aziz also faced a charge of actual bodily harm.
Aziz pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court and was handed a 4 year, 8 month sentence. Omer denied involvement but was found guilty at trial and sentenced to five years.
Investigator Condemns “Brutal and Unprovoked” Attack
“Omer and Aziz launched a brutal and unprovoked attack on their victims after lying in wait for hours,” said DC Vicki Hartland of North Kent CID. “The injuries were grave and could have led to fatal consequences. The scars and psychological impact will stay with the victims for life. I hope they find some comfort now these men have been jailed.”
