Suspicious Blaze Hits Dalkeith Soft Play Centre
Detectives in Dalkeith are hunting for answers after a suspicious fire tore through the Saltire soft play centre at Mayfield Industrial Estate. The blaze broke out late on the night of Saturday, August 12, between 11.30pm and 11.45pm.
Quick Response from Firefighters Stops Serious Damage
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service raced to the scene and quickly doused the flames, preventing more extensive damage to the property. Despite their efforts, police suspect the fire was set deliberately.
Man in Black Spotted Nearby – Police Want to Talk
Detective Constable Russell Taylor of the CID revealed that the fire is being treated as wilful. “Our inquiries are ongoing,” he said, stressing the importance of tracking down a man dressed in black who was seen around the centre just before the fire started.
DC Taylor urged anyone driving in the area with dashcam footage from that time to come forward. “Your footage could be the key to cracking this case,” he added.
