Kent Crime Squad Slams Down Nearly 50 Charges in One Month
Kent Police’s Chief Constable’s Crime Squad has gone on the offensive, issuing 46 charges in July alone. This dedicated team of detectives and uniformed officers focuses on burglary and robbery, making a serious dent in criminal activity across the county.
Crackdown Packs a Punch: Jail Time and Arrests

- 10 arrests made during the same period
- Offenders jailed for a combined 14 years and 9 months
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Talboys, who heads the squad, said: “Our officers are committed to achieving the best possible results for victims of crime. Taking robust, proportionate action is key to this process.”
He added: “It’s encouraging that many of the cases last month led to charges and court-approved remands in custody. Since our launch in February 2019, we’ve authorised over 2,100 charges.”
Thieves, Burglars and Fraudsters Caught Red-Handed
Among those caught are two men accused of burgling nine homes across Queenborough, Sittingbourne, Minster, Iwade, and Gillingham. They are due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court this August.
A Dover man admitted to burgling two local homes and committing fraud using a stolen bank card. He faces Canterbury Crown Court in mid-August.
Two men are also charged for stealing car parts and number plates from Detling Aerodrome Industrial Estate.

- Two men given a combined 22 years for a string of robberies and a ram raid in Northfleet and Gravesend
DCI Talboys warned: “There’s no let-up in our mission to make Kent a no-go zone for criminals. If you break the law, we will come after you with full force.”
