Apple Watch Ultra Dives Deep With New Oceanic+ App

Apple Watch Ultra just got a serious upgrade for divers. The new Oceanic+ app, developed by Huish Outdoors in partnership with Apple, turns the rugged smartwatch into a powerful dive computer. It lets recreational scuba divers explore depths up to 40 metres (130 feet) with built-in depth gauge and water temperature sensors.

Dive Smarter With All the Bells and Whistles

  • Oceanic+ offers advanced dive planning, essential metrics, and detailed post-dive summaries.
  • Divers can track surface time, depth, gas mix, and No Deco (no-decompression) limits right from their wrist.
  • The app pulls in real-time dive conditions like tides, visibility, and currents from a community database.
  • Post-dive data includes GPS entry/exit points and detailed graphs on depth, temperature, and ascent rates.

Haptic Feedback Revolutionises Underwater Alerts

The watch features innovative haptic feedback that taps your wrist through thick wetsuits, cutting through confusing underwater beeps. “Sound in water is powerful and directionless,” says Andrea Silvestri, Huish Outdoors VP. “The haptics make notifications personal, like a gentle nudge guiding you during your dive.”

Rugged, Bright, and Built for Adventure

Apple Watch Ultra boasts a 49mm titanium case, flat sapphire crystal, and the brightest Apple Watch display ever at 2000 nits for excellent underwater visibility. The customizable Action button launches Oceanic+ instantly and can mark compass bearings mid-dive.

It’s WR100 and EN 13319 certified — meeting top international dive gear standards.

Get Ready to Make a Splash

Oceanic+ is available now on the App Store for Apple Watch Ultra running watchOS 9.1 paired with iPhone 8 or later (or iPhone SE 2nd gen, iOS 16.1+). The basic plan is free and includes essential dive logging. Premium features like decompression tracking and unlimited logbooks cost £9.99/month or £81.99/year, with a family sharing option for up to five users at £113.99 annually.

“Oceanic+ on Apple Watch Ultra is one of the biggest innovations to hit the dive industry in a long time,” says Mike Huish, CEO of Huish Outdoors. “We’re making diving more accessible, safer, and wildly exciting for everyone.”

Tip: Always dive with a buddy and a secondary device for safety.
