Young Terror Trio Busted in Nationwide UK Sting
Mohammed Tahir, 19, from Peterborough, has pleaded guilty to spreading terrorist material, Kingston Crown Court confirmed on Friday, 4 December. This marks a firm crackdown on homegrown terror threats.
Who Are the Other Two?
- Muhammed Saeed, 21, Manchester: Admitted to five terror possession charges linked to preparation and instigation of terrorist acts back in June.
- Mohamed Ismail, 23, North London: Pleaded guilty in October to two counts of distributing terrorist content.
All three men were arrested in a coordinated police operation on 30 December 2019. They remain behind bars and will face sentencing early next year. Tahir’s case is set for a Newton hearing in January 2021.
Police Praise Joint Effort in Terror Takedown
“Three young men have now been convicted of terrorism offences thanks to the vigilance of counter-terrorism officers,” said Commander Richard Smith, head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.
“The Met works closely with other forces and security services across the UK to investigate suspicious activity and bring offenders to justice. We’re also focused on stopping radicalisation before it starts.”
Smith encouraged the public to report concerns, highlighting www.actearly.uk, a specialist site for spotting early signs of radicalisation.

“Tahir is a dangerous individual, and thanks to outstanding collaborative work across the Counter Terrorism network, he had no option but to plead guilty,” said Detective Superintendent Andy Waldie of ERSOU’s Counter Terrorism unit.
The joint task force included the Counter Terrorism Command (CTC), Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU), and Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW).
