Teen Thugs Convicted of Murdering 17-Year-Old Reuben Higgins
Three teenagers have been found guilty of murdering 17-year-old Reuben Higgins in a savage stabbing attack in Marston Green, Solihull last October.
18-year-old Abdurrahman Summers and two unnamed 15-year-olds were convicted today at Birmingham Crown Court. They face sentencing on 5 August.
Brutal Stabbing Outside Esso Petrol Station
The court heard chilling details of the attack on Station Road. Reuben and his friends were confronted by a gang of four teens. When the suspects reached for their waists, a knife was pulled out, sparking panic.
“They’re trying to kill me,” Reuben shouted as he fled to a nearby shop. He desperately tried to block the door, but the attackers forced their way inside.
In a terrifying ten-second frenzy, Reuben was stabbed multiple times—leg, arm, and chest—before the gang fled.
Swift Police Investigation Leads to Arrests
One of the 15-year-olds bizarrely returned to the scene to recover a dropped mobile phone before escaping on a bus.
Despite the efforts of passers-by, Reuben died at the scene.
Thanks to CCTV footage, witness statements, and forensic evidence, police tracked down and arrested the trio in November 2024. The fourth suspect has fled the UK and remains wanted.
West Midlands Police said: “This was a savage and unprovoked attack on a young man with his whole life ahead of him. We are committed to locating the fourth suspect.”
