Two Charged Over Fraud After Isle of Wight Grandfather’s Murder
Detectives have charged two people with fraud over the use of bank cards belonging to Gerald Pragnell, a 66-year-old Isle of Wight grandfather murdered in Southampton.
Grandfather Found Dead Near Southampton Common
Gerald Pragnell was found dead off Cemetery Road, near Southampton Common, in early November. His body was discovered on November 3, days after his bank cards were reportedly used without permission.
Two Suspects Face Multiple Fraud Charges
- Karl Fawcett, 36, of Southampton Street, has been charged with eight counts of fraud by false representation and one count of handling stolen goods.
- 1 Glen, 32, also of Southampton Street, faces 10 counts of fraud by false representation.
The charges come after an investigation into the fraudulent use of Mr Pragnell’s bank cards following his death on November 1.
Murder Guilty Plea Heard at Winchester Crown Court
Meanwhile, Tommy Scott, 34, of no fixed address, appeared via video link at Winchester Crown Court this week and pleaded guilty to Mr Pragnell’s murder. Scott is set to appear again alongside Fawcett and Glen at Southampton Magistrates Court.
