Grandad Gerald Pragnell Murder Sparks Fraud Investigation
Detectives hunting the killer of Isle of Wight grandad Gerald Pragnell have made fresh arrests. The 66-year-old was murdered in southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton last November, with his body discovered near Cemetery Road, close to Southampton Common.
Two Arrested Over Fraud Linked to Victim
Karl Fawcett, 36, and Glen (32), both from Southampton Street, now face multiple fraud charges. Fawcett stands accused of eight counts of fraud by false representation and one count of handling stolen goods. Glen has been charged with 10 counts of fraud by false representation.
Fraud Linked to Use of Victim’s Bank Cards
The charges come after police tracked suspicious activity on Mr Pragnell’s bank cards following his murder on November 1. His body was found two days later, on November 3.
Murder Guilty Plea from Tommy Scott
Meanwhile, Tommy Scott, 34, of no fixed address, admitted guilt to the murder at Winchester Crown Court via video link this week. Scott and the fraud suspects are set to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court soon.
