Two Cops Charged with Assaulting Teen During Hospital Trip
Two police officers are facing court over allegations they assaulted a 16-year-old boy. Pc Sevda Gonen, 28, is charged with two counts of assault by beating. Pc Stuart Price, 32, faces one count of the same offence.
Incident Sparks Serious Allegations
The pair are set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this Friday. The charges relate to an incident on November 14, when the officers were transporting the teen for a mental health assessment at hospital.
Unlawful Force, Hair-Pulling and Slapping Alleged
According to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), the officers used unlawful force during a search. Pc Gonen also faces a separate charge of slapping the boy’s face and pulling his hair.
Investigation Launched After Mandatory Police Referral
The case emerged after the Metropolitan Police made a mandatory referral to the IOPC in December 2023. An independent investigation followed, with findings passed to the Crown Prosecution Service in April, resulting in the assault charges.
