Man Arrested in Kent Over North Cheam Shooting Death
A 28-year-old man was arrested today, 23 June, in Whitstable, Kent, as part of a pre-planned police operation. He is currently in custody on suspicion of murder.
Victim Shot Dead on Brocks Drive
The arrest follows a fatal shooting in North Cheam at 1.12am on Friday, 19 June. Police, including armed officers, rushed to Brocks Drive after reports of gunfire. They found 25-year-old Kyle Kelson suffering from a gunshot wound in the street.
Officers gave emergency first aid, and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance also attended. Tragically, Kyle was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.45am.
A post-mortem at St Helier Hospital confirmed the cause of death as a shotgun wound to the head. Kyle’s grieving family has been supported by specialist officers.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Release Car Image
“Kyle was a much-loved father, son, brother and friend to many. His big beautiful smile brought joy to us all,” said Kyle’s mother, Angella Kelson.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard, leading the investigation, said:
“Our probe is making progress, but we urgently need witnesses. If you were near Brocks Drive early on 19 June and saw anyone acting suspiciously, step forward now. No detail is too small.”
“We have also released an image of a dark-coloured car seen driving away from the scene. We need anyone who spotted this vehicle or knows anything about it to get in touch.”
“A man has lost his life in violent circumstances. His family deserves answers. The community can help us find them.”
