Man Found Dead in Stratford Centre Car Park

Police launched a murder probe after a body was discovered in a car at Stratford Centre, Newham, in the early hours of Wednesday, 10 January.

From Tip-Off to Tragedy

Officers were first alerted by a neighbouring force on Tuesday afternoon, following a concern raised by a member of the public about someone possibly in danger in London.

At 1.07am the next day, police tracked a car to the Stratford Centre car park. Inside, they found a man’s body. His identity is yet to be confirmed, and next of kin are being informed. A post-mortem will be carried out soon.

Suspect Arrested in Hampshire

A man was arrested early on 10 January at a home in Hampshire on suspicion of murder. Crime scenes remain active in both Newham and Hampshire while officers from Specialist Crime, backed by local cops, continue their investigations.

Police Reassure Public

Chief Superintendent Simon Crick said: “I know many local people use the Stratford Centre every day, and this awful incident will cause concern among shoppers and retailers.

“A man is in custody and, while investigations continue, we believe there is no danger to the public.

“If you have any information that could help, please contact police immediately.”
