Man Arrested After Preston Stabbing Tragedy
A 32-year-old man from Preston was arrested overnight on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. This latest arrest brings the total number of suspects in the case to seven.
Seven Men Now Held in Connection with Murder
Earlier this weekend, six men aged between 18 and 29 were also detained as part of the investigation. Police continue to piece together what led to the brutal attack.
Victim Lee Dawson Dies After Stabbing in Jutland Street
Emergency services were called at around 3 a.m. on Friday, June 17, after Lee Dawson, 42, was found with multiple stab wounds on Jutland Street. Originally from Preston but living in Sunderland, Lee was rushed to Royal Preston Hospital but sadly died.
“Lee loved his children deeply and would do anything for them,” his family said. “He was a large and friendly giant with a strong heart and strong head. Once you had Lee as a friend, you had a friend for life. He lived life to the fullest and will be sorely missed.”
A post-mortem confirmed Lee died from stab wounds. Lancashire Police have launched a full murder investigation, with enquiries ongoing.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Haworth-Oates from the Force Major Investigation Team said:
“My thoughts remain with Mr Dawson’s loved ones at this time. While arrests have been made, our investigation is far from over. We urge anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of the incident to come forward.”
