Leeds Schools Targeted in Scary Email Threats – Police Make Arrest

Police acted fast after a string of threatening emails targeted children and staff at multiple Leeds schools. West Yorkshire Police launched an urgent investigation and have been stepping up to reassure schools and advise on safety.

Arrest Made But No Lockdown Orders

Authorities confirmed an arrest connected to the malicious emails. But they were quick to clarify there’s no credible threat and schools have not been told to lockdown. “Contrary to some reports, we did not instruct schools to initiate lockdowns,” West Yorkshire Police said.

Schools on High Alert Across Leeds

  • Ruth Gorse Academy
  • Sharp Lane Primary School
  • Windmill Primary School
  • Beeston Primary School
  • Clapgate Primary School

Several schools opted for soft lockdowns, keeping pupils indoors and even sending some home early to ease parental worries. Despite the chaos, normal lessons are expected to resume soon. Leeds City Council and Bradford Council are closely supporting police efforts to keep everyone safe.

Similar Threats Hit Schools in North West and Chester

Earlier this week, schools in the North West faced similar nasty emails. A Chester school even went into lockdown, stopping parents from collecting kids temporarily. But police later confirmed the emails were hoax threats with no real danger.

Blacon High School in Chester also took precautions but stressed it was not in lockdown. Cheshire Police remain aware and vigilant following threats aimed at students and staff.

The message is clear: authorities are on high alert, but there’s no cause for panic as investigations continue.
