Not asylum seekers, say cops
The Metropolitan Police have shattered wild online claims linking two teenage suspects in a Barnehurst rape case to asylum seekers. The disturbing attack on a teenage girl happened on Monday, 4 August. Officers stress the accused are not asylum seekers. Detective Superintendent Mel Pressley told the press:
“Despite online commentary we can confirm the suspects are not asylum seekers. We have also confirmed with partners that a nearby block of flats in Perry Street is not being used to house asylum seekers.”

“Our focus remains on supporting the victim and establishing the circumstances of the incident.”
