Bomb Scare in South Bristol: Man Arrested, Homes Evacuated

A major incident unfolded in South Bristol after police arrested a man suspected of having access to potentially explosive materials at a residential property. Emergency teams, including the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, rushed to the scene following reports of suspicious activity just before 6pm on Tuesday.

Man Detained Amid Bomb Scare

The suspect was safely arrested at 7:10pm. The bomb squad arrived shortly before 7:50pm to take control of the operation as specialist officers secured the area.

“Concerns were raised with police at about 5.55pm that an individual at a property in South Liberty Lane may have access to potentially explosive items. The man was arrested and a 100-metre safety cordon was established as a precaution. A major incident has been declared. There are no casualties.” – Avon and Somerset Police

Over 60 Homes Evacuated as Safety Precautions

Authorities evacuated more than 60 homes across Swiss Road, Risdale Road, and South Liberty Lane. Between 150 and 250 residents were affected. Displaced families were taken to Ashton Vale Community Centre, where volunteers and city councillors have been providing support through the night.
