Two Romanian men arrested over brutal stabbing of Wimbledon journalist

Shock stabbing in Queensmere Road

Two Romanian nationals have been arrested in connection with the savage stabbing of a journalist in Queensmere Road, Wimbledon on 29 March 2024. The victims, Nandito Badea, 19, and George Stana, 23, were detained by Romanian authorities on 4 December following charges approved by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

Counter Terrorism Command leads investigation

The Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command has been on the case since the attack that left the journalist seriously injured. The CPS has charged the suspects with wounding and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Extradition process underway

Acting Commander Helen Flanagan praised Romanian authorities for their swift cooperation:

“We’ve gathered extensive evidence leading to these arrests in Romania. We thank our counterparts for their help. Now, we await the extradition process so these men can face justice in the UK.”

“Given the pending criminal proceedings, we won’t comment further or entertain speculation at this stage.”

The National Crime Agency is working closely with the Met and Romanian officials to speed up extradition.
