M40 SHUT AFTER MULTI-VEHICLE CRASH NEAR HIGH WYCOMBE

The M40 is shut both ways near High Wycombe following a serious multi-vehicle pile-up. The motorway has been at a standstill for over an hour, with closures expected until at least 8pm Sunday evening.

One driver reported seeing dozens of ambulances, several helicopters, and fire engines flooding the scene. Hundreds of motorists remain trapped in gridlocked traffic as emergency crews work tirelessly to clear the wreckage.

Emergency Teams Racing to Clear Debris and Spillage

Officers at the scene said: “We hope to release those trapped shortly. We’re currently clearing debris and dealing with a spillage to make the road safe again.”

A Highways England spokesman added the closure stretches between Junction 4 and Junction 5. Thames Valley Police are leading the investigation, supported by all emergency services on site.
